The U.S. Navy has asked industry to provide information on proprietary low probability of intercept and low probability of detection waveforms and other capabilities that may be considered for future contracts, Inside Defense reported Monday.

A request for information for LPI/LPD waveforms was posted Monday by Naval Information Warfare Systems Command in response to a legislative language of the National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2020.

Section 168 of the FY 2020 NDAA prohibits the Department of Defense from funding communications programs unless the waveform clears an analysis through the Joint Tactical Networking Center's tactical communications marketplace or is available through DoD's Waveform Information Repository.
