AirMap has received a $1M contract to provide the U.S. Air Force an unmanned traffic management platform for use in the branch's flight test of electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft.

The company said Tuesday it will develop UTM technology to support the Agility Prime program, which seeks to demonstrate the potential use of air mobility vehicles in government missions such as logistics, disaster response and search-and-rescue missions.

"We are excited to support all of the Agility Prime participants as they build, test, and bring their eVTOLs to market," said Larry Berkin, general manager at AirMap's defense group.

The Air Force's AFWERX organization awarded the contract for the Direct-to-Phase 2 Small Business Innovation Research program.
