Bill Wright, director of federal government affairs at Splunk, wrote in a Federal Times article posted Monday that agencies should provide employees with training and reskilling opportunities to prepare them for rising data volumes.

“The reality is nearly all future government jobs will have some element of data involved. It's critical for public sector personnel to know about and access the growing number of reskilling and training opportunities,“ Wright wrote.

He talked about Splunk's Data Age report, which found that 83 percent of survey respondents in the public sector cited the magnitude of data as a major challenge to managing and leveraging data.

“The dawn of the Data Age should accelerate investment of time and training in the public sector workforce,“ Wright said. “That includes providing modern tools that use AI, machine learning and automation to free valuable personnel from the impossible work of manually processing data.“
