Mike McKinney, former managing director of Attain's defense business, has joined information technology contractor OBXtek as chief operating officer.

OBXtek said the retired U.S. Air Force colonel will manage OBXtek's customer-facing business operations in his new position.

“My goal is to continue to advance our culture of being a customer- and mission-focused company that provides superior solutions and hires the best people to serve our customers,” McKinney said.

He previously served as vice president of business development at Akima and held director roles at Cubic and BAE Systems' U.S. subsidiary.

McKinney spent 26 years at the Air Force and led the service branch's first unmanned aerial system intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance team.
