Raytheon Technologies' Collins Aerospace business has awarded Intevac a $5M contract to produce sensor technology for integration onto a night vision system being developed to help U.S. Navy and Marine Corps pilots fly aircraft in low-light conditions.
Intevac said Monday it will supply the company's ISIE19 Electron Bombarded Active Pixel Sensor to the Enhanced Visual Acuity development program funded by the Navy.
Collins Aerospace received a contract from the service branch in June to develop an EVA system that will include a helmet-mounted binocular display designed to help tiltrotor and rotary-wing operators view higher-resolution imagery and increase vision when they perform missions at very-low-light levels.
Santa Clara, California-based Intevac built its digital sensor offerings with the patented EBAPS technology for potential use on the Department of Defense's avionic fighting platforms.
