Nuclear Industry Vet Sam Shakir Named Westinghouse Environmental Services Group President

Sam Shakir, former president and CEO of nuclear power company Orano USA, has joined Westinghouse Electric Co. as president of its environmental services business.

The more than 25-year industry veteran will be responsible for driving Westinghouse's expansion strategy in the global nuclear decommissioning and management services markets, the company said Wednesday.

He will focus on growing decontamination, decommissioning and government service offerings in his new position.

In his previous role, Shakir led several Orano businesses focused on nuclear fuel products and engineering, decontamination and decommissioning services.

His career also includes strategy, product development and technical service experience at the former AREVA Group and ABB.
