Global navigation satellite system technology developer oneNav has introduced a mobile GNSS receiver designed to use L5 signals, and has partnered with In-Q-Tel, the venture capital and business development organization of the intelligence community, in an effort to provide agencies with GNSS technology.

Steve Poizner, co-founder and CEO of oneNav, said in a statement published Thursday the L5 mobile GNSS receiver is developed to leverage modernized signals from navigation satellite constellations, and the company will implement a flexible licensing model to deliver the new offering.

oneNav Pure L5 does not require L1 circuitry and only acquires and tracks on new L5 signals to reduce GNSS radion frequency size, power and cost in half. The technology is meant for smartphones, wearables, IOT tracking modules and other space-limited devices.

Aside from the product launch, the company also completed a GV-led Series B funding round through which oneNav secured $21 million. Participation from Norwest Venture Partners and GSR Ventures raised the total investment to $33 million.
