VA Seeks Info on Emerging Tech Application to Clinical Activities

The Department of Veterans Affairs seeks market information on potential application of three types of emerging technology into the Veteran Health Administration's clinical workflow.

Future contractors would help VA identify and assess clinically applicable advanced manufacturing, robotic process automation and immersive technologies, VA said Thursday in a SAM notice.

The department will require expertise for each of these areas to adopt 3D printing technology, automate clinical care workflows and apply virtual and augmented reality to surgical operations and various forms of treatment.

VA's Office of Discovery, Education and Affiliate Networks released a request for information detailing a range of efforts where emerging technologies can be used.

The project will consist of three-month sprints where proposed efforts would undergo feasibility testing and course correction.

Interested parties may submit the requested market information on research and simulation support needs up to May 13.

A Lockheed Martin-made spacecraft is now on its way back to Earth after a mission to explore and gather samples on the Bennu asteroid. The OSIRIS-REx spacecraft carries asteroid samples as it flies back to Earth's orbit over a 1.4-billion-mile, two-year trip, which is expected to include two rotations around the Sun, Lockheed said Monday.
