Lockheed Martin and Israel Aerospace Industries are looking into prospective research, production and marketing opportunities under a memorandum of understanding for collaborative development of integrated air and missile defense systems

The new partnership will create an executive steering committee and groups designated to oversee the coordination and implementation of the agreement, IAI announced Tuesday.

“Combining the development capabilities and the vast know-how of Lockheed Martin and IAI experience accumulated over the years in IAMD systems will create win-win opportunities for both sides,” said Boaz Levy, president and CEO of IAI.

Tim Cahill, senior vice president of global business development at Lockheed, said the long-standing relationship between the defense company and the State of Israel will pave the way for business expansion and deployment of IAMD capabilities globally.

In December 2018, IAI launched its production line for F-35 wings after Lockheed tapped the former to manufacture the platform’s skins through automatic fiber placement, composed of layers of composite materials.
