The National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency has opened its new unclassified center at the T-REX innovation facility in St. Louis, Missouri, to provide a space where entities from industry, academia and government can pursue collaborative projects.

Moonshot Labs will focus on software development and will have the leadership of NGA-based developers and the residence of professionals from other agencies, NGA said July 19.

Partnering entities may use the facility to develop open-source software and help the agency address various challenges.

“Moonshot Labs will bring an accessible, new level of unclassified and solutions-oriented developmental capabilities to NGA, our partners and the warfighter,” said Vice Adm. Robert Sharp, director of NGA and a two-time Wash100 recipient.

The opening ceremony took place Friday at T-REX, where Moonshot Labs occupies approximately 12,000 sq. ft. of workspace.
