Huntington Ingalls Industries has received $20 million in cost modification award from the U.S. Navy to cover capital expenditure initiatives for industrial base efforts that support the development of Arleigh Burke-class destroyers.
The award modifies HII’s existing DDG 51 development contract to shipbuilding supplier activities aimed at ensuring the readiness of the Navy’s fleet, the Department of Defense said Friday.
The contractor will perform work at its facilities in Pascagoula, Mississippi, through April 2029.
Naval Sea Systems Command will use fiscal 2021 shipbuilding and conversion budget to obligate the full cost modification amount at time of award.
In June 2020, HII’s Ingalls Shipbuilding division received an order worth $936 million from the Navy for one DDG 51 Flight III destroyer.
