Siemens has secured a multiyear deal to provide Lockheed Martin a suite of software products and services to support the latter’s digital engineering strategy.

Lockheed’s aeronautics segment will implement the Xcelerator platform in efforts to accelerate program life cycles and drive innovation pursuits surrounding digital transformation, Siemens said Tuesday.

Tony Hemmelgarn, president and CEO of Siemens’ digital industries software unit, noted the business aims to help the defense and aerospace company address production contract requirements from the Department of Defense using the Xcelerator portfolio.

The platform is designed to help users generate a digital twin of systems and gain insights from data through closed-loop analytics.

Bridget Lauderdale, vice president and general manager of the F-35 aircraft program at Lockheed, previously said the company is embracing digital technology that could help advance fifth-generation fighter systems post-delivery.

She added that the company is “using digital models and supercomputers to augment physical test data with simulation-based verification, and automating data processes to save time and glean insights that improve sustainment.”

The contract between Lockheed and Siemens comes more than six months after Northrop Grumman adopted the Xcelerator suite.
