2021 saw a number of Akima businesses win positions on multiple award contracts from the U.S. Air Force and Navy. In early January of the said year, Akima Logistics Services was awarded a spot on the $14 billion Aircraft Maintenance Enterprise Solution contract that provides for organization-level maintenance services across the USAF. The subsidiary will compete for task orders and will perform work through the contract’s September 2031 expected completion date.

Another IDIQ seat was given to Akima Logistics Services to provide the Air Force with aircraft support services under the potential 10-year, $835 million Rotary Wing Maintenance Consolidation contract.

In March, Akima’s Aperture subsidiary was selected by the Navy to support the Naval Information Warfare Center Atlantic’s 8(a) Programmatic Engineering Logistics Support Incubator initiative. It will provide a range of information technology and engineering services as required by individual task orders awarded under a five-year, $113.8 million contract.

Portico, another Akima subsidiary, secured a $43.7 million contract from USAF’s 480th Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Group for renovation, repair and modernization activities at Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam.

Welcoming the opportunity for Akima to do construction support for the military, Monet said, “We work tirelessly to offer best-fit solutions for our military customers, and this work with the U.S. Air Force represents another opportunity to deliver efficient support that will provide long-lasting value.”

Aside from contract awards, Akima also achieved a certification for meeting international standards for IT service management and two appraisals from the CMMI Institute.

Akima Global Technology and Cloud Lake Technology both received the ISO/IEC 20000-1:2018 certification for meeting requirements for the development, implementation, monitoring, maintenance and improvement of an IT service management system.

In April, AGT was also appraised at maturity level 3 of the Capability Maturity Model Integration Version 2.0 for development and services. Prior to that another Akima subsidiary, Tuvli, was evaluated at CMMI V2.0 level 3 for IT services.

Other notable company movements in 2021 include the appointment of Candy Curtin as Akima’s chief human resources officer responsible for employment and talent development initiatives and other HR function, as well as the inclusion of Akima in the tenth annual BGOV200 list.

“Akima’s ranking in this year’s BGOV200 report reflects our company’s growth as well as our commitment to our shareholders and customers. We are honored and proud to be included on this list with the other outstanding federal contractors, and we are dedicated to providing continued support and exemplary services to our government customers in the future,” said Monet.

Monet builds on his over three decades of experience in delivering services to government and commercial customers to help ensure Akima’s growth. He is responsible for a portfolio of over 45 companies and 8,000 employees working to support the federal government and other clients.

Executive Mosaic congratulates Bill Monet and Akima for their selection to win the 2022 Wash100 Award. Monet’s strong leadership and innovative solutions have cemented his footprint in the government contracting sector and driven modernization across the federal government.
