Decision-guiding tool, for commanders

Raytheon Technologies showcased during a recent multinational exercise led by U.S. Northern Command its new capability designed to gather and analyze data intelligence from various sources to inform military decision-makers.

The Anytime Reasoning and Analysis for Kill-Web Negotiation and Instantiation across Domains tool helped Global Information Dominance Experiment 3 participants in generating and scoring various courses of actions, the defense company said Monday.

In one of the exercise scenarios, commanders selected a COA produced by ARAKNID that called for the assignment and scramble of fighter jets to intercept an airborne target at a shortened period of time.

According to Raytheon, the battlefield decision support tool is meant to address the inability of humans to process a huge amount of information by themselves quickly before making any military choices.

The ARAKNID capability opens the door for cross-connecting sensors and actuators for multiple applications, including satellites, autonomous vehicles, robotics and logistics,” said Michael Atighetchi, a lead scientist at Raytheon’s intelligence and space business.

Raytheon developed the support tool using artificial intelligence, DevSecOps and warfighter feedback as part of the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency’s Adapting Cross-Domain Kill-Webs program.
