Facility expansion

Northrop Grumman has completed a 120,000 square-foot expansion project that almost doubles the satellite manufacturing space of the company’s facility in Gilbert, Arizona.

The defense and aerospace company said Thursday the expansion work enables the production of various spacecraft, from mission-unique large units to mass-produced small satellites, to meet a growing order backlog.

The facility, now measuring 255,000 sq. ft, is currently producing Earth observation satellites for NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and ESPAStar and ESPASat for various customers. It is expected to host the integration and testing of a module for NASA’s future lunar space station.

This new expansion will help us meet the increasing demand from these customers,” said Cyrus Dhalla, Northrop vice president and tactical space systems general manager.
