F-16 IVEWS development

An electronic warfare system Northrop Grumman is developing for the U.S. Air Force’s F-16 aircraft fleet will undergo a series of verification tests.

A rigorous testing program for the Integrated Viper Electronic Warfare Suite will aim to verify hardware and software before the service branch flies the new technology on its combat jet, Northrop said Tuesday.

The company will also build infrastructure in preparation for the IVEWS manufacturing process that will take place after the completion of qualification efforts.

USAF awarded Northrop a $91.3 million contract modification in March to complete system development and installation on F-16s for the planned flight tests later this year.
