Hewlett Packard Enterprise‘s government-focused arm has won a six-year, $25.5 million contract from the U.S. Army to supply supercomputers in support of a Department of Defense program for advancing U.S. computing capabilities.

Computers procured from HPE Government under the firm-fixed-price contract are for the High Performance Computing Modernization Program, DOD said Friday.

The Army Corps of Engineers-managed initiative aims to aid in the fast transition of defense technologies into advanced warfighting capabilities. It focuses on computational resource development, software application modernization and research and engineering network management.

The company, which vied against two other bidders for the contract, will conduct work at the Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland and is expected to finish on Jan. 12, 2028.

At the time of the award, fiscal 2022 Army other procurement funds were used to cover the full amount.

The Alabama-based engineering division, which awarded the contract, provides assistance to the DOD by procuring supercomputers with high computing ability and large data storage.
