KBR has received an award from the International Stability Operations Association in recognition of the company’s contribution to the humanitarian effort that provided support to thousands of displaced Afghans in 2021 when their government collapsed.

ISOA’s 2022 Global Impact Award presented to KBR under the large company category specifically underscored its role in Afghan Special Immigrant Visa and Refugee Resettlement Operations, the company said Thursday.

KBR helped coordinate Afghan SIV applications by assigning a quick reaction team and supported the installation of crucial vital infrastructure at nine U.S. and European sites accommodating approximately 58,000 displaced Afghans.

The latter work was under the Logistics Civil Augmentation Program contract and Global Contingency Services Contract.

“Over the years, KBR hired thousands of Afghans, and we had an urgent responsibility to help them secure the required documentation to process their SIVs,” said Byron Bright, president of KBR Government Solutions and a 2022 Wash100 Award recipient.

The executive collaborated with other large business leadership teams to drive the industry’s response.

He also expressed gratitude to company employees who worked with the departments of Defense and State on the humanitarian effort.
