Australia intends to procure 80 extended-range units of Lockheed Martin‘s Joint Air-to-Surface Standoff Missile system from the U.S. government under a $235 million foreign military sale cleared by the State Department.
The Australian air force could use the AGM-158B JASSM-ER with fighter aircraft platforms such as the F-35 and F/A-18F Super Hornet to perform future long-range strike missions, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Thursday.
DSCA noted the possible transaction includes the missile system with telemetry kits, containers, training units, support equipment, spare parts and accessories.
Personnel training, technical documentation, engineering, transportation, repair and technical support services are covered in the proposed sale.
