The Aerospace Corp. has opened a $100 million space warfighting center at its Colorado Springs location to help shape future warfighting concepts in the space domain.

The 90,000-square-foot facility will foster space warfighting and advanced system-related activities and support the modernization of U.S. satellites, the national nonprofit corporation said Tuesday.

The SWC will feature modeling and simulation capabilities as well as realistic digital training and testing environments to help look into space warfighting concepts and provide space operators and analysts with knowledge about threat assessments.

Furthermore, the new center is expected to double the workforce at the company’s current 250-staffed Colorado Springs site and contribute up to $100 million to the local economy by end of 2023.

Aerospace announced in July 2020 the construction of the center envisioned to support the U.S. Space Force and other customers.
