The Department of Veterans Affairs has awarded a $60 million contract to Axon to provide the VA Police with in-car and body cameras and software technology.

The indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract provides for Axon’s Fleet 3 in-car cameras, Body 3 cameras and automated license plate reader powered by artificial intelligence technology, the company announced Thursday.

Veterans integrated services networks personnel will also be equipped with the Axon Respond real-time situational awareness software and the Axon Evidence digital management system.

The hardware and software tools are expected to expedite VA officers’ response times, enhance performance and safety as well as secure storage and management of collected digital proof.

“By providing our police officers, detectives and special agents with real time visibility and situational awareness, we ensure a safe environment for our veterans across the health care system,” said Troy Brown, director of the VA Law Enforcement Services.

Axon is the only cloud service provider that received Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program approval for its digital evidence management platform.
