CGI Federal has booked a $17.4 million contract to help the Nuclear Regulatory Commission update cybersecurity tools and processes.

The award under NRC’s Global Infrastructure and Development Acquisition blanket purchase agreement tasks CGI Federal with helping advance the agency’s ability to safeguard information technology assets from present and future cyberthreats, the company said Thursday.

“Through this work, CGI will bring a modernized IT environment that advances security monitoring and analysis and mitigates risks across the enterprise,” said Stefan Becker, senior vice president and lead for the regulatory agencies programs business unit at CGI Federal.

He also highlighted the NRC’s notable efforts to improve its cybersecurity strategies and tools and emphasized the company’s experience in providing organizations with security platforms.

CGI Federal intends to support the commission in addressing insider and persistent threats through a digital forensics lab and help the agency comply with the federal government’s zero trust architecture strategy.

The contract has a base period of 16 months with three 12-month options.

Vishal Ranjan, vice president and NRC account executive at CGI Federal, said the company has supported analytics and incident response efforts at the NRC Security Operations Center since 2017.

In 2012, the company was awarded a $21.28 million contract to move the commission’s financial accounting integrated management information systems to cloud infrastructure.

Collaboration between CGI and NRC goes as far back as 2010, when the company received a $20 million contract to help the agency manage and modernize IT applications.
