John Ustica Discusses Role as President, CEO of Siemens' Federal Arm in Executive Spotlight Q&A - top government contractors - best government contracting event

John Ustica has led Siemens’ business unit that works with federal agencies since October and has been at the global industrial conglomerate for more than two decades.

Ustica, who served as chief financial officer of Siemens Government Technologies for nearly four years and held the interim CEO role for six months before he was promoted to his current dual role, shared with GovCon Wire why he accepted the top position at SGT.

“The main reason I took the CEO job was number one, I really believe in the mission, and number two, I really love working with the team here.”

In his conversation with GovCon Wire, Ustica gave an overview of SGT’s software-as-a-service application suite and its mentor-protege relationship with a service-disabled veteran-owned small business.

“We can use the industry knowledge that NMR has while bringing in Siemens products and resources to serve customers in ways that we couldn’t individually. Working with small businesses and serving a customer with sensitive national security missions is really a win-win for both of us.”

He also offered his perspective on how digital twins can accelerate modernization projects with the company’s U.S. defense customers.

“The digital twin model is really driven by the data you put in it. As we get more information, as we put more data into these digital twin models, the outputs become better and better.”
