The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency will hold a Proposers Day on Jan. 19 at its conference center in Arlington, Virginia, to provide potential offerors information on the objectives of a program that seeks to build and demonstrate propulsion systems that could enable sustained operations in very low Earth orbit.

The Otter program intends to develop subsystems and system-level approaches to facilitate persistent operations of satellites in VLEO or orbits below approximately 450 kilometers in altitude, according to a notice published Thursday,

DARPA said it expects multiple performers to conduct work in the program’s two technical areas: thruster and vehicle integrator.

The agency will also provide participants an opportunity to have an individual session with the program manager.

Registration for the event will close on Jan. 9.
