DOD Updates Online Portal for Defense Innovation Opportunities; Jen Bird Quoted - top government contractors - best government contracting event

The Department of Defense has rolled out updates on its “one-stop-shop” website for visitors from industry and academia to learn how their organizations can help DOD innovate.

The Innovation Pathways site is designed with three sections meant to help businesses, students and educational institutions and DOD personnel view information about opportunities to work with defense agencies and contact details, the Pentagon said Friday.

DOD first announced the online portal in April to provide external parties a gateway to bring research and development ideas to the department.

“The site includes a guided tour tool so that users can identify relevant opportunities across the defense innovation ecosystem,” said Jennifer Bird, director of the innovation steering group under the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Research and Engineering.

Bird told DefenseScoop in an interview the updated site includes a “matchmaking” function, additional data under a section focused on warfighter needs and a map of innovation-related DOD offices.
