General Dynamics‘ information technology segment has secured a potential seven-year, $152 million contract from the Alabama Supercomputer Authority to operate and support the state-funded agency’s computer and network systems.

Work under the contract will include delivering high-performance computing, enterprise network management, cybersecurity, application development and hybrid multi-cloud environment hosting services, General Dynamics Information Technology said Tuesday.

The contract consists of a five-year base period and a two-year extension option.

“This contract supports sustainability of ASA’s broadband connectivity and related services to more than 780 educational clients in the state,” said Debra Wallace, CEO of ASA.

ASA was established in 1989 to manage the supercomputer and related telecommunication systems in Alabama. It also operates the Alabama Research and Education Network, which provides internet access and supercomputer resources to educational institutions across the state.
