Space technology company Loft Orbital has created a new subsidiary focused on delivering space infrastructure as a service to customers in the U.S. national security market.

John Eterno, most recently vice president of programs at Loft Orbital, has assumed the role of general manager of Loft Federal, the parent company said in a LinkedIn post Friday.

Golden, Colorado-based Loft Federal will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of Loft Orbital and will meet the mission requirements of U.S. government clients.

Loft Orbital said the “creation of this new entity enables us to maintain our culture and expand our work and partnership with the federal government” and that it is actively hiring personnel in support of the newly created business’ national security space missions.

Apart from Eterno, Loft Federal announced that it named Brian Bone, most recently federal business development lead at Loft Orbital, as director of business development and hired Scott Perry, formerly integrated product team lead at Ball Aerospace, and Nicholas Cenedella, lead spacecraft systems engineer at Boeing’s Millennium Space Systems subsidiary, as systems engineers.
