Michael Rogers, a retired U.S. Navy admiral who previously served as commander of the U.S. Cyber Command, director of the National Security Agency and chief of the Central Security Service, has joined Duality Technologies’ board of advisors.

In his advisory role, Rogers, a three-time Wash100 Award winner, will assist Duality with accelerating the deployment of its data collaboration and privacy-preserving technologies to tackle national security challenges across a range of industries, the Hoboken, New Jersey-based company announced on Tuesday.

“Adm. Rogers has a deep-rooted understanding of how data, privacy and security intersect and shares the importance of Duality’s mission to advance privacy-enabled data collaboration in all regulated industries,” said Duality Chairwoman and Co-Founder Rina Shainski.

A dedicated public servant, Rogers holds decades of experience in command leadership and national cybersecurity work. His knowledge will pair with that of Duality’s cryptography and data science professionals to further the company’s goal of promoting multi-organizational collaboration regarding sensitive data.

As an adviser, Rogers will work alongside Duality’s team to inform government regulators and standards bodies on the importance of fortified privacy technologies as a means of protecting both U.S. citizens and the federal government.

Duality’s technologies are hosted by OpenFHE, an open source Fully Homomorphic Encryption library, and are currently being supported by multiple research and development agencies, including the Defense Advanced Projects Research Agency.

Kurt Rohloff, chief technology officer and co-founder of Duality, said that Rogers’ appointment will support Duality’s public sector growth efforts.

“I am excited to join Duality’s advisory board to support the company’s mission of delivering advanced data protection capabilities that enable organizations in public and private sectors to collaborate on their sensitive data,” said Rogers.

He emphasized the role of trust, safety and security in collaboration and the necessity of technology aligning with these values as data, AI and machine learning grow in prominence.
