Young Bang, principal deputy assistant secretary of the Army for Acquisition, Logistics and Technology, and Anthony Robbins, vice president of the federal business at NVIDIA, recently attended a senior leadership event hosted by Executive Mosaic.

The two distinguished executives sparked a dynamic and timely discussion centered around artificial intelligence and its adoption in the federal landscape.

“Because the tactical Army will be the biggest consumer of AI, we are driving AI implementation, scale, and capabilities in 2024. We really need industry to partner with us to leapfrog our peer threats,” Bang said in conversation with Executive Mosaic CEO Jim Garrettson.

The Army leader also recently participated in a panel discussion during the Potomac Officers Club’s 4th Annual AI Summit in February, during which he emphasized the need for industry support and ideas around testing and verification of AI.

Robbins, a 2023 Wash100 Award winner, has also been a vocal supporter of accelerating AI implementation in the public sector, especially in the management of wildfires.

Commenting on a recent report from the President’s Council of Advisors on Science and Technology, Robbins said the effort to fight wildfires using AI could be a “rallying call” that unites senior leaders, councils, advisors and subject matter experts toward the cause and opens up new possibilities for advanced technology deployment.

“I think there’s a lot of work around sensors—the Department of Defense has a whole business built around sensor and signal processing,” Robbins said. “It makes you wonder about the possibility of instruments—more advanced instrumentation helps us in the area of predictive analysis.”
