Science Applications International Corp. has won a $102.5 million modification to a previous $1.1 billion U.S. Navy torpedo production contract.

Under the firm-fixed-price, cost-plus-fixed fee award, SAIC will extend its support for the Navy’s MK 48 Mod 7 Heavyweight Torpedo initiative, the Reston, Virginia-based company announced on Monday.

“SAIC has a long history of supporting the U.S. Navy, notably our work providing the dominant undersea weapons it requires. We are honored by the Navy’s confidence in SAIC, and proud to expand our support of the MK 48 program,” said Bob Genter, president of the organization’s defense and civilian sector and a 2023 Wash100 Award winner.

As ordered by the new contract, SAIC will produce, assemble, test and deliver MK 48 Mod 7 Torpedo Afterbody Tailcones and MK29 Mod 0 Warshot Fuel Tanks to the service branch as well as to international partners through Foreign Military Sales programs.

The company currently provides all needed facilities, resources and management to meet the contract’s integration, production, test and delivery demands.

Recently, SAIC has won multiple awards from the Navy, including a five-year, $349 million contract awarded in January, under which the enterprise is providing management, engineering, technical, integrated logistics, configuration management and lifecycle support services for Afloat and Ashore Tactical Networks.

In August 2022, SAIC booked a $163 million contract from the service branch to enhance the Naval Information Warfare Center Pacific Shore Networks Branch’s enterprise networks through design, development, modernization, sustainment, lifecycle and integration assistance.

Earlier last year, SAIC received a potential $20.6 million task order to provide the Navy with tools and technical assistance to bolster interoperable communications between public safety and first responders.
