Northrop Grumman joined the Naval Research Laboratory to test a system designed to facilitate allocation and sharing of signal performance from a single antenna.
The integrated topside Low-Level Resource Allocation Manager works to maximize the use of a single antenna for missions supposedly requiring multiple antennas, the company said Monday. The system’s testing took place at NRL’s site in Chesapeake Beach, Md.
The demonstration aimed to allow capacity-limited ships to reduce antenna count and rely on a single unit for multiple functions. LLRAM performed alongside the InTop Electronic Warfare/Information Operations/Communications system during the test.
In addition, LLRAM features size and antenna pattern scalability to help users address changing needs.
