L3Harris Technologies subsidiary Aerojet Rocketdyne has secured a contract to manufacture launch and flight motors for FIM-92 Stinger missiles to help RTX business Raytheon replenish the U.S. Army’s inventory of the anti-aircraft missiles. The replenishment contract awarded to Aerojet marks the first time in nearly two decades the company will manufacture new missiles for the U.S. military, L3Harris said Thursday.

Lockheed Martin and the U.S. Army demonstrated the extended-range variant of the Guided Multiple Launch Rocket System during an operational test at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico, paving the way for the rocket to move to the fielding and production phase. Two ER GMLRS rockets were fired from the Army's High Mobility Artillery Rocket System launcher against a target and met missile performance criteria in terms of flight trajectory, range and accuracy from launch to impact, Lockheed said Thursday.

R2S, a joint venture between Rafael Advanced Defense System and Raytheon, an RTX business, has begun the construction of a new manufacturing facility in East Camden, Arkansas, to house the production of air defense missiles for the U.S. Marine Corps. The companies will invest $63 million in the development of the new facility, which will build the domestic production line for the Tamir missile for the Iron Dome Weapon System and its SkyHunter missile weapon variants, the office of Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders said.

An RTX subsidiary is set to collaborate with industry partners for the development of a new technology that could enhance sensor capabilities across ground, maritime and airborne domains under a $20 million National Security Technology Accelerator contract. Lockheed Martin will conduct in the spring a live-fire test meant to demonstrate the integration of the U.S. Army’s Patriot Advanced Capability-3 Missile Segment Enhancement with the U.S. Navy’s Aegis Combat System, Defense News reported Thursday. Tom Copeman, vice president of naval systems within Lockheed’s missiles and fire control business, said the company will use a ground-launched vertical launch platform for the upcoming test.

L3Harris Technologies company Aerojet Rocketdyne has signed a 10-year public-private partnership agreement with the Naval Surface Warfare Center Indian Head Division to increase solid rocket motor production for national defense applications. "Working in coordination with our government partners, we’re increasing our production capability to meet today’s growing demand and to prepare for any surge in support of near peer conflicts," Ross Niebergall, president of Aerojet Rocketdyne, said in a statement published Monday.

Aerojet Rocketdyne, an L3Harris Technologies subsidiary, has opened a new laboratory at its Camden, Arkansas, site to expand its solid rocket motor materials chemical testing capabilities supporting defense programs. The Camden laboratory provides 5,200 square feet of space to enable the company to move pressurized gas cylinders manually, install additional tensile testing stations and add an upgraded ventilation system for better airflow, L3Harris said Monday.
