CAE has agreed to buy the military training segment of L3Harris Technologies for approximately $1.05 billion in a strategy to access multiple programs aimed at preparing U.S. warfighters for aircraft and weapon system operations. Montreal-based CAE said Monday it expects to close the transaction in the second half of this year. Marc Parent, president and CEO of CAE, said the company aims to accelerate its growth strategy in the defense and security space through the acquisition and expand its U.S. market presence.

CAE's U.S. subsidiary has received a prime contract to train aircraft pilots of U.S. Customs and Border Protection at the company's Dothan Training Center and other business aviation facilities. CAE USA will provide training on fixed-wing and rotary-wing aircraft in classroom, simulated and actual flight environments to help pilots meet requirements imposed by CBP and the Federal Aviation Administration, CAE said Tuesday.

A CAE subsidiary has received a subcontract from BAE Systems for services in support of the latter's work to develop a new cloud-powered training environment for the U.S. Marine Corps.
