Retired British Army Brig. Gen. Paul Tennant has been appointed as corporate vice president of engagement and international government relations at HII. In his new role, Tennant will work with think tanks, professional organizations, federal entities, academia, consultancies and other groups to progress the company’s objectives, HII announced from Arlington, Virginia on Wednesday.

HII's Mission Technologies division has inaugurated a new facility in Syracuse, New York, that will specialize in engineering products for command, control, computers, communications, cyber, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance. The new facility is in addition to the company's site in Rome, New York, and brings its total workforce in the state to 200 employees.

HII’s Ingalls Shipbuilding division has handed over to the U.S. Coast Guard a national security cutter named after the first master chief petty officer of the USCG, Charles Calhoun. Designated as WMSL 759, Calhoun is the 10th Legend-class NSC delivered to the service branch.

An HII shipbuilding division launched USS Bougainville, the third America-class amphibious assault ship, for the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps on Sept. 30. Early last month, Bougainville was transferred to a dry dock via railcars to the company’s floating dry dock, where the team prepared the ship for its launch into the Pascagoula River in Mississippi, HII said Friday.

Craig Faller, a retired U.S. Navy admiral, has been elected to the board of directors of military shipbuilding company HII. Faller has nearly four decades of military experience and most recently served as commander of U.S. Southern Command, where he helped build U.S. military partnerships with Latin American and Caribbean security forces.

HII's Newport News Shipbuilding division collaborated with General Dynamics Electric Boat and advanced marine components manufacturer Ammcon to employ 3D printing in the production of parts for nuclear-powered submarines. GDEB and Ammcon helped NNS create a copper-nickel deck drain assembly that was later installed on the Virginia-class submarine Oklahoma.
