AeroVironment has received a $20.9 million contract option to provide data link and avionics technology packages to update radio frequency elements of the U.S. Army’s Raven unmanned aerial systems. AeroVironment said Thursday the contract action serves as the second option year of the potential $55 million flight control systems area of the Army’s five-year Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems award.

Kratos Defense and Security Solutions helped Space Vector and the U.S. Space Force launch a scientific experiment via a sounding rocket from the Wallops Flight Facility in Virginia on March 3. Kratos said Friday its team for the Sounding Rocket Program-4 effort lifted up the sounding launch vehicle, which carried a scientific experiment from the Air Force Research Laboratory.

General Dynamics has introduced a cryptographic module the company designed to secure mission-critical communications in space and avionics systems. The KOV-28 Open Systems Architecture technology is designed to integrate with rugged military platforms such as Mode 5 friend or foe identification, data links, navigation and satellite communications equipment, General Dynamics said Wednesday.
