HawkEye 360 has generated $55 million from a Series C fundraising round, led by venture capital firm Night Dragon, to seed radio frequency sensing satellite development and deployment. The new capital, which brings HawkEye 360's total funds raised to more than $155 million, will be used to build nine additional satellites in three clusters for RF data collection and analytics work, the company said Monday.
MoreHawkEye 360 announced that its Cluster 2 satellites meant to geolocate radio frequency signals and deliver RF geospatial intelligence data to customers have completed functional testing and reached initial operating capability status. Cluster 2 is composed of three satellites that launched in January aboard a SpaceX-built Falcon 9 rocket and features GNSS antenna to detect GPS interference and increased computing capabilities capabilities for onboard data processing.
MoreHawkEye 360 has appointed Kari Bingen, former deputy under secretary for intelligence and security at the Department of Defense, as chief strategy officer to provide guidance as the company navigates an evolving space policy landscape and a growing radio frequency (RF) data and analytics market. "Few people have the same depth of knowledge about space and intelligence policy as Kari Bingen," said CEO John Serafini.
MoreSatellite technology company HawkEye 360 has released its Mission Space offering in a move to help customers identify radio frequency activity and visualize RF geospatial intelligence data. Alex Fox, an executive vice president of HawkEye 360, said the company developed the platform to create value for customers of its subscription RF signal data services and to drive adoption of commercial analytics technology for defense, intelligence and commercial applications.
MoreHawkEye 360 will use its satellite constellation to provide the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency with radio frequency data and analytics in support of a pilot program centered on the use of commercial RF GEOINT. The company said Wednesday it will offer the service to help analysts perform augmented intelligence works to support various NGA missions.
