The State Department has approved the Japanese government's request to purchase advanced medium-range air-to-air missiles manufactured by RTX from the U.S. government under a potential $224 million foreign military sale agreement. RTX will serve as the principal contractor on the potential FMS deal that covers the procurement of 120 AIM-120C-8 AMRAAM and three AMRAAM C8 guidance sections, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Friday.

The Department of Defense's innovation arm has selected five companies to build prototypes of commercial lithium batteries to address power requirements in fighter jets and helicopters. NanoGraf, Bren-Tronics, Xentris Wireless division EXO Charge, Enersys and Teledyne Technologies will develop prototypes under the Defense Innovation Unit's Family of Advanced Standard Batteries project, DIU said Thursday.

The Department of State has approved the Israeli government's request to purchase nearly 14,000 tank shells and related equipment from the U.S. government under a potential $106.5 million foreign military sales agreement. The Defense Security Cooperation Agency said the State Department waived congressional review requirements under the Arms Export Control Act to supply Israel with 120mm M830A1 High Explosive Anti-Tank Multi-Purpose with Tracer tank cartridges from the U.S. Army inventory.

Agile Defense has booked a potential $1.01 billion Defense Information Systems Agency single-award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract to support the Joint Interoperability Test Command. Sigma Defense broke ground at the site of a new facility in Perry, Georgia, that will house the production of advanced defense technologies to address secure communications needs for multidomain operations. Frontier Technology Inc. will establish its Operational Research Bridge for Innovation and Technology Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado, to facilitate secure collaboration and knowledge transfer in the space operations domain.
