Allison Transmission has secured a one-year, $83.3 million contract to deliver upgraded and new X1100 transmissions for Abrams main battle tanks. The U.S. Army's Tank-automotive and Armaments Command has partnered with Allison Transmission to equip  M113 armored personnel carriers with an updated propulsion technology. Allison said Thursday it will provide the X200-4A cross-drive transmission system that features a hydraulic torque converter along with a technology package designed to support propulsion, brakes and steering.

South Korea-based armored troop carrier developer Hanwha and Oshkosh, a maker of military trucks, have partnered to pursue the U.S. Army’s Optionally Manned Fighting Vehicle program that seeks to replace the service's M2 Bradley infantry vehicles, Breaking Defense reported Monday.
