Allison Transmission has landed a three-year, $68.5M contract to provide transmission systems built to work with heavy-tracked combat vehicles to the U.S. Army.

The U.S. Army's Tank-automotive and Armaments Command has partnered with Allison Transmission to equip  M113 armored personnel carriers with an updated propulsion technology. Allison said Thursday it will provide the X200-4A cross-drive transmission system that features a hydraulic torque converter along with a technology package designed to support propulsion, brakes and steering.

Allison Transmission has received a $3.6 million contract from the U.S. Army to support an engineering program for a transmission unit designed to power the military service branch's Abrams combat vehicles.

South Korea-based armored troop carrier developer Hanwha and Oshkosh, a maker of military trucks, have partnered to pursue the U.S. Army’s Optionally Manned Fighting Vehicle program that seeks to replace the service's M2 Bradley infantry vehicles, Breaking Defense reported Monday.
