BAE Secures $76M Navy Contract Modification to Deliver Vertical Launch System Component

BAE Systems has received a $76 million contract modification from the U.S. Navy to develop additional vertical launch system (VLS) canisters. The award raised the contract value to $306 million and requires BAE to produce canisters for the Mk 13, Mk 14, Mk 25, Mk 29 and other hardware for the service branch, the company said Tuesday. The canisters are a critical component for storing, transporting and firing offensive and defensive missiles on the Navy’s guided-missile cruisers and destroyers.

Navy Tests Airworthiness of BAE-Made RF Countermeasure Tech for P-8A Aircraft

The U.S. Navy has demonstrated the airworthiness of a BAE Systems-made prototype of a technology meant to provide the P-8A Poseidon aircraft with radio frequency defense. The pod-mounted radiofrequency countermeasure passed its airworthiness test while installed on the P-8A platform operated by Air Test and Evaluation Squadron or VX 20, Naval Air Systems Command said Friday.
