A BWX Technologies subsidiary will continue providing the Tennessee Valley Authority with uranium downblending services under a $122 million contract extension. Nuclear Fuel Services has been supporting downblending operations of the U.S. government since 1995, and its current work with TVA is extended to June 2027 with the recent award, BWXT said Wednesday.

Mike Boorstein, formerly general manager at Amazon's Robotic Sortable Fulfillment Center, has joined BWX Technologies as general manager of the Nuclear Operations Group-Euclid manufacturing facility. He will manage daily operations, including a workforce of over 350 and the production of electro-mechanical components for naval nuclear reactors used in submarines and aircraft carriers, BWXT said Thursday.

BWX Technologies has partnered with Lockheed Martin and Space Nuclear Power Corporation to contribute to an Air Force Research Laboratory program focused on advancing technologies for spacecraft employing nuclear electric power systems. Under the collaboration, the company said Wednesday it will produce and test nuclear fuels and components as well as support design and system integration at its facilities in Lynchburg, Virginia, in support of the Joint Emergent Technology Supplying On-Orbit Nuclear program.
