The Space Systems Command has issued a request for information as part of a strategy to establish an integrated satellite network with space-based environmental monitoring capabilities that would provide terrestrial and space weather data to meet Department of Defense forecasting needs. The government is working to determine the ability of industry partners to deliver technological capabilities relevant to SBEM environmental parameters articulated under 2012 Joint Requirements Oversight Council Memo 091-12 and 2014 JROCM 092-14, according to the RFI posted Tuesday on SAM.gov.

Rocket Lab's U.S. subsidiary has deployed two satellites to different orbits approximately 500 km apart using its Electron rocket for NASA and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology. Electron's 47th mission lifted off from Rocket Lab Launch Complex 1 in Mahia, New Zealand, carrying the NEONSAT-1 payload developed by KAIST and the Advanced Composite Solar Sail System from NASA, Rocket Lab USA said Tuesday.

Intel’s foundry business will further advance the development and testing of chip tape-outs and prototypes under the third phase of the Department of Defense’s Rapid Assured Microelectronics Prototypes-Commercial program. DOD awarded the RAMP-C program’s Phase 3 through the Strategic and Spectrum Missions Advanced Resilient Trusted Systems other transaction authority agreement, also known as S2MARTS OTA, with the National Security Technology Accelerator, Intel said Monday.

BlueHalo and Stellar Sciences have secured contracts worth $49.4 million combined to support the Air Force Research Laboratory's Satellite Assessment Center at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico. Northrop Grumman and SpaceX are working together on a classified satellite constellation for a U.S. intelligence agency to gather high-resolution Earth imagery and help improve the U.S. government's ability to monitor military and intelligence targets, Reuters reported Thursday. According to the report, SpaceX secured a potential $1.8 billion contract from the National Reconnaissance Office in 2021 for the classified satellite project.
