A three-week field test of the Counter-Electronic High-Power Microwave Extended-Range Air Base Defense system, or CHIMERA, recently took place at White Sands Missile Range in New Mexico. RTX business Raytheon said Monday that it had conducted the test in collaboration with the Air Force Research Laboratory, with whom the company is working alongside Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division and the Undersecretary of Defense for Research and Engineering to develop CHIMERA under the Directed Energy Front-line Electromagnetic Neutralization and Defeat program.

RTX business Raytheon, in partnership with the U.S. Army, recently conducted a live fire demonstration of the Lower Tier Air and Missile Defense Sensor, the next-generation air and missile defense radar of the military service. RTX said Wednesday that the demo saw LTAMDS acquire and track a tactical ballistic missile surrogate, hand off tracking data to the Integrated Battle Command System, then guide a PATRIOT Advanced Capability - 3 Cost Reduction Initiative missile launched by the IBCS to intercept the target.

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has awarded RTX's Raytheon BBN Technologies the Resilient Supply-and-Demand Networks contract. The RSDN contract calls for the development of a modeling and simulation tool that will work to predict how supply demand networks might be impacted by shocks and formulate mitigations to address those effects, RTX said Monday.

Raytheon, an RTX subsidiary, and the U.S. Army demonstrated the ability of a next-generation air and missile defense radar system to acquire, track and intercept a cruise missile during a recently concluded live-fire engagement test. The Lower Tier Air and Missile Defense Sensor detected and tracked a threat-representative cruise missile target, transmitted track data to the Northrop Grumman-built Integrated Battle Command System for launch command and guided a PAC-3 missile to intercept the target, RTX said Monday.
