nLIGHT, Kord Technologies Partner to Provide Army With High Energy Laser Weapon

Semiconductor and fiber lasers provider nLIGHT will work as a subcontractor to Kord Technologies on a $34.5 million U.S. Army contract for the Directed Energy Maneuver-Short Range Air Defense prototyping effort. DE M-SHORAD aims to install 50kW-class high energy laser weapon systems on Stryker vehicles, improving their defenses against a variety of threats, including unmanned aircraft systems, nLIGHT said Monday.

Satellogic Receives Remote Sensing License From NOAA Amid Efforts to Expand US Business

Geospatial company Satellogic has received a remote sensing license from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, resulting in the company becoming subject to oversight by the agency. Satellogic said Tuesday that it had applied for the license for its Aleph-1 Constellation, with the aim of expanding support for customers with NOAA-related requirements. An interagency review of Satellogic's constellation subsequently took place, resulting in the award of the license.

New Hughes Broadband Internet Satellite Undergoes Testing With Ground Systems

Jupiter 3, an ultra high density satellite operated by EchoStar company Hughes Network Systems, began undergoing over the air testing with ground systems on Nov. 16, following the deployment of its solar array and antennas and the completion of a readiness test by the space systems business of Maxar Technologies, the spacecraft's manufacturer. Hughes said Thursday the satellite will work to increase the company's broadband capacity over North and South America by 500 Gbps, particularly benefiting plans under the HughesNet satellite internet service.

Boeing is partnering with the Department of Transportation and the Federal Aviation Administration to launch an initiative that aims to foster the development and use of sustainable aviation fuel among members of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation. The aerospace company said Thursday that the initiative seeks to address various challenges APEC countries might face in establishing or growing a market for SAF. These challenges include the production of the fuel itself and the formulation of policies underpinning SAF production and use.

A flight test of the Patriot Advanced Capability – 3 took place on Nov. 16, demonstrating the missile's ability to defend against an air breathing threat with the help of the Lower Tier Air and Missile Defense Sensor radar. TechFlow Receives Success Memorandum From DIU for Electric Vehicle Charging Tech
