The technology foundation of not-for-profit organization Mitre has spun out Mitre ATT&CK Defender onto venture-based startup MAD20 Technologies under a tech transfer agreement. MAD20 has been independently operating Mitre ATT&CK Defender — the training and credentialing program for the ATT&CK cybersecurity knowledge base — since Sept. 30, Mitre said.
Aerospace and defense company RTX has appointed Amanda Sorensen as corporate vice president for talent. Sorensen, who transitioned from her most recent role as vice president of human resources at RTX business Raytheon, describes herself on LinkedIn as a "[versatile] and results driven" leader in HR, whose experience includes change management, workforce development and talent management.

The U.S. Navy recently conducted Demonstration and Shakedown Operation-32 off the coast of California, whose purpose was to determine the readiness of the crew and weapon systems of the USS Louisiana, an Ohio-class nuclear ballistic missile submarine that had just completed an engineering refueling overhaul. During DASO-32, the Navy test launched an unarmed Trident II D5 life extension fleet ballistic missile, a weapon used aboard Ohio-class subs and Vanguard-class subs of the U.K. Royal Navy.

A coalition of experts, technologists and researchers has been established with the aim of increasing public understanding and adoption of post-quantum cryptography. The members of the PQC Coalition will work to, among other things, promote standards and technical approaches related to post-quantum cryptography and mature technologies in anticipation of the transition to PQC, Mitre, one of the coalition's founding members, said Tuesday.
The Department of the Air Force has sent Congress a letter certifying that the communication service to be provided by the upcoming Wideband Global Satcom 12 satellite cannot be achieved by commercial alternatives, according to a statement by the Space Systems Command. The issuance of the letter is in compliance with a requirement within the House of Representatives' version of the Fiscal Year 2024 National Defense Authorization Act, which threatens to block the acquisition of WGS-12 should the DAF fail to certify the insufficiency of commercial services.
