Leidos has landed a $10.3M contract from the U.S. Air Force for experimental and predicative capabilities needed to help determine the effects of high power continuous-wave lasers on various materials and to address existing and future laser systems.

The cost-plus-fixed-fee deal provides for work under the Pulsed and Continuous Wave Innovation for Integration and Effects Research project, the Department of Defense said Tuesday.

Contract work is slated to run through Sept. 30, 2025, and will occur at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico.

The service branch received three bids and following a competitive procurement process, obligated $1.8M from fiscal year 2020 research, development, test and evaluation funds to Leidos.
