L3Harris Technologies and Rheinmetall’s U.S. defense arm have agreed to pursue the U.S. Army’s Optionally Manned Fighting Vehicle program that seeks to replace the service's Bradley infantry vehicles. L3Harris Technologies is pursuing contract opportunities in responsive space systems as the Department of Defense invests more in the development of such architectures, C4ISRNET reported Wednesday. Ed Zoiss, president of space and airborne systems at L3Harris, said the company has received six contracts in responsive space and attributed those contract wins to its payload expertise, mission knowledge and capability to deliver rapid platforms.

CAE has agreed to buy the military training segment of L3Harris Technologies for approximately $1.05 billion in a strategy to access multiple programs aimed at preparing U.S. warfighters for aircraft and weapon system operations. Montreal-based CAE said Monday it expects to close the transaction in the second half of this year. Marc Parent, president and CEO of CAE, said the company aims to accelerate its growth strategy in the defense and security space through the acquisition and expand its U.S. market presence.

L3Harris Technologies has secured a potential $300 million subcontract to provide subsystems and related integration services for a new class of guided-missile frigates being developed by Fincantieri Marinette Marine under a U.S. Navy surface combatant program. The company said Monday it will produce and integrate major subsystems for the FFG 62 frigate, which the Navy plans to build at least 10 of.

An L3Harris Technologies-built very small aperture terminal has been certified for military and commercial use on Inmarsat's Global Xpress satellite broadband connectivity network. Inmarsat granted Category 1 and Category 4 approval for the DarkWing VSAT offering to help customers gain high-speed internet access, connect to virtual private networks and transmit videos, L3Harris said Monday.
