GE Aerospace intends to invest $650 million this year to upgrade its manufacturing facilities and strengthen its supply chain. The General Electric operating unit said Tuesday that, of that total, $450 million will be allocated for the enhancement of 22 facilities across the U.S., an effort that includes the acquisition of additive manufacturing equipment and other machines and tools that will be used to assemble, test and produce engines for military and commercial aircraft.

The U.S. Air Force has released a draft solicitation for a potential 10-year, $12.5 billion contract for support services to modernize, operate and maintain network infrastructure across all Department of the Air Force bases worldwide. The service branch intends to establish a pool of qualified sources to support the multiple-award Base Infrastructure Modernization indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract, according to a presolicitation notice published Thursday.

The federal business of ECS has secured a prime spot on a potential $500 million contract vehicle from the National Institutes of Health to provide professional support services for the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health. Under the Strategic Technical ARPA-H Talent Support contract vehicle, ECS said Monday it will provide systems engineering, technical advisory support and other professional services such as financial and program management.

General Atomics' electromagnetic systems division has secured a contract from Lockheed Martin's space business arm to build and deliver missile warning, tracking and defense payloads for integration into the Space Development Agency's Tranche 2 Tracking Layer satellites. GA-EMS will produce 16 wide-field-of-view missile warning and tracking infrared payloads and two fire control and missile defense infrared payloads for integration into the 18 satellites Lockheed is building for the Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture's tracking layer, General Atomics said Monday.

Northrop Grumman has secured a five-year contract from the U.S. Army to produce the initial batches of next-generation digital radar warning receivers designed to protect military assets from advanced airborne threats. The AN/APR-39E(V)2 is an open-architecture technology that uses a smart antenna and advanced processing to detect radio frequency threats over a broad range of spectrum, including the millimeter-wave band of frequencies, Northop said Monday.

Very Low Earth Orbit satellite builder Albedo has expanded its strategic advisory board, which was formed in May 2023. Rick Ambrose, former executive vice president of the space business at Lockheed Martin, and retired U.S. Army Lt. Gen. Pat O'Reilly, vice president of corporate strategy at L3Harris Technologies, are the new members of the advisory board, Albedo said Monday.

Ray Munoz, formerly a board member and chief executive officer of Safran Data Systems, has been named CEO of Spectra Aerospace & Defense, a Georgia-based producer of advanced rugged electronics services for aerospace and defense platforms. Spectra said Monday that Munoz brings to the role 25 years of leadership experience in the international aerospace and defense markets and technical experience from his over five years of military service in the U.S. Navy.

The Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency has chosen seven companies for the small business track of the Artificial Intelligence Cyber Challenge. The competing small businesses were evaluated by the Air Force Research Laboratory, the Office of the Undersecretary of Defense for Research and Engineering and the Advanced Research Projects Agency for Health, DARPA said Monday.

DARPA will be represented by Kathleen Fisher, director of the Information Innovation Office, at the Potomac Officers Club's 5th Annual Artificial Intelligence Summit on March 21. Register now!
