Masood Ahmed has assumed the role of vice president of health mission solutions division at Leidos, where he previously worked as VP of capability integration, according to a LinkedIn post. The executive has been with the Reston, Virginia-based information technology, engineering and science company for over seven years.

The space systems business of Maxar Technologies is gearing up to deploy the satellites it built to bolster the constellation capacity of Maxar Intelligence. Maxar said Monday two WorldView Legion satellites will launch as early as April from the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket.

Iridium Communications has hired John McNiff as vice president and general manager of the company's Space Development Agency business, bringing to the role over three decades of professional experience. The appointment went into effect on Feb. 5, the satellite communications company said Monday.

KBR has received a 10-year subcontract from Bering Straits Information Technologies to deliver human performance optimization services for the U.S. Air Force Air Combat Command. Apple is reportedly in discussion with Google to license and build the latter's Gemini engine, a set of generative artificial intelligence models, into new iPhone software features. The negotiations come as Apple prepares new generative AI capabilities for the next version of the iPhone operating system, iOS 18, including functions for writing essays and creating images based on simple prompts.

The Department of State has approved a potential $90 million foreign military sale of AIM-9X Sidewinder missiles and related equipment to Italy. The FMS covers three requests from the Italian government for a total of 66 Block II+ Sidewinder missile variants and seven tactical guidance units, plus 24 AIM-9X Captive Air Training Missiles and four accompanying guidance units, the Defense Security Cooperation Agency said Friday.

The U.S. Air Force has conducted a static fire test of the stage-3 solid rocket motor of the ground-based intercontinental ballistic missile system being developed by Northrop Grumman as a replacement for the Minuteman III ICBM. The test was conducted at the Arnold Engineering and Development Complex at Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee and validated the design and performance of the LGM-35A Sentinel's propulsion system, the Air Force Materiel Command said Saturday.
