The U.S. Air Force has conducted a static fire test of the stage-3 solid rocket motor of the ground-based intercontinental ballistic missile system being developed by Northrop Grumman as a replacement for the Minuteman III ICBM. The test was conducted at the Arnold Engineering and Development Complex at Arnold Air Force Base in Tennessee and validated the design and performance of the LGM-35A Sentinel's propulsion system, the Air Force Materiel Command said Saturday.

General Dynamics' electric boat subsidiary has christened PCU Idaho, the U.S. Navy's 26th Virginia-class nuclear-powered fast-attack submarine, which is designed to support anti-submarine and surface ship warfare and special operations. Terry Stackley, the ship sponsor, performed the bottle break that christened the vessel, which is the first Navy submarine to be named after the state of Idaho, General Dynamics Electric Boat said in a LinkedIn post published Sunday.

Google Public Sector has chosen World Wide Technology to operate its new sovereign cloud platforms, Jan Niemiec, GPS managing director of national security, announced Friday. GPS entered into a partnership to make WWT the first managed provider of Google Distributed Cloud Hosted, which will serve federal agencies needing to manage their infrastructure even without internet connection.

Cloud storage company Box has been selected by the Administrative Office of the U.S. Courts to supply a cloud-based content management platform to the Defender Services Office to enable DSO to securely share content with U.S. district courts, federal public defenders and investigators. The company said Thursday DSO works to support Criminal Justice Act panel attorneys and federal public defender organizations representing indigent clients accused of federal crimes.

Leidos has delivered to NASA a test version of the universal stage adapter that will be used to connect the exploration upper stage of the Block 1B variant Space Launch System to the Orion spacecraft. NASA said Wednesday the full-scale prototype arrived at Building 4619 at Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, where it will undergo modal testing to validate dynamic models and ultimate load testing to assess the test article's structure.
