Emergency services should include modern voice communication platforms in any discussion on capability modernization, according to Stacy Schwartz, head of U.S. public sector and education at RingCentral, the provider of a cloud-based communication platform. In an opinion column published Wednesday on StateTech, Schwartz says that unlike analog voice communication tools, modern voice comes in the form of mobile apps that can integrate various data streams, benefiting disaster response as well as daily emergency medical services.

Aerospace company Blue Origin is finalizing the development of the Dark-Sky-1 mission system, whose purpose is to demonstrate the mission operation and flight system capabilities of a heavy utility multi-orbit logistics vehicle. The work is being carried out under a contract between Blue Origin and the Defense Innovation Unit, which said Wednesday that it had also been working with two other companies -- Space Logistics and SpaceBilt -- to achieve logistics capabilities, like Dark-Sky-1, that would provide low-cost access to geostationary orbit and those beyond low Earth orbit.

A joint venture between DMI and Dynamic Solutions Technology will assist the Department of the Treasury with enterprise mobility management under a $14.5 million contract from its Office of the Comptroller of the Currency. DMI, through its Dynamic Digital Transformation JV, will be responsible for supporting and managing the enterprise mobility management services of the bureau.

Carahsoft Technology has agreed to distribute a full-stack edge computing platform from Armada to the public sector through its reseller partner network and government procurement vehicles. Under the agreement, Carahsoft said Wednesday it will serve as the public sector distributor for Armada's Commander software suite, which is designed to enable government customers to monitor and manage their Starlink terminals and edge computing applications.
